Glycodin man Chirayu Amin to find a cure for IPL
Minutes after Chennai Super Kings defeated Mumbai Indian to become the champion of the IPL's third season, BCCI's verdict to get the flamboyant Lalit Modi out of the picture was out in the news. In fact, the board has appointed Chirayu Amin as the interim Chairman of the IPL. For the uninitiated, Amin is the pharmaceutical baron whose 104-year-old company makes one of the country's oldest brands Glycodin.
However, he is very different from his predecessor, while he is media-shy; Amin also doesn't believe in tweeting and even doesn't match the level of flamboyancy of Modi. However, Amin has deep ties with the game that makes him a perfect successor.
He took control of the Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) in 1988 and after edging out former BCCI secretary Jaywant Lele has been in control even after 2003. But similar to Modi, even Amin has his share controversies to his name.
For instance, he has been charged for burdening BCA with Alembic employees as its members and even his company has been in controversies regarding a deal for 100 acres of prime land on Whitefield Road in Bangalore.
However, BCCI is sure that he will be able to take the cricket tournament out of its problems successfully.
