Steel prices to witness minor variation
According to sources, steel prices may witness a minor variation. Steel prices are expected to rise or fall by Rs. 2,000-2,500 per tonne, depending on the conditions in world markets and demand.
This may happen due to the vacillation in prices of raw materials in the next six months. As per Steel Secretary, Atul Chaturvedi there may be a fluctuation of 5-7% in near future. He was addressing to the steel companies and has informed this to the reporters after the meeting.
He has also informed that this price flux may occur in next six months. He has confirmed that they have not asked the companies to go for a hike. Since February, the leading steel companies of India including Tata Steel, SAIL, JSW have increased the prices of their products by about Rs. 6,000 per tonne.
However, Steel Secretary Mr. Chaturvedi has been asked by Steel Minister, Mr. Virbhadra Singh to hold a meeting with the domestic steel companies to finalize the price related issues soon.
On the other hand, Mr. Chaturvedi has informed that the steel prices have increased but it has not touched an alarming stage yet.
