Government extorting people in the name of Common Wealth Games
India attempts to present itself as a good choice for Common Wealth Games, anticipating that by hosting this grand event will help the country to improve its image in travel sector and among sports fans.
But unfortunately, the government is extorting people of Delhi in the name of Common Wealth Games. Government has reconstructed the old playgrounds, hysterically built hostels for the athletes, improved the roads but doing all this government forgot its liability towards the residents of the capital and lead to chaos in the capital city.
Supplementing all these problems, another complexity given to the residents of the capital by the government is increase in the taxes. Bill was twisted and coiled to pay higher taxes on 32 commodities- ranging from tea-to diesel to mobile phones to cooking gas.
Residents of capital are questioning Indian authorities why they attempt to host Common Wealth Games when it is leading to so many negative consequences like, hike in food prices, increase in the taxes etc.
Delhi High Court has formed a panel to review the deaths of 40 workers at the game sites due to lack of safety measures and poor working conditions.
A report submitted by the panel reveals that 10,000 migrants workers involved in the construction are not been paid even the legal minimum wage and to increase their problems they were force to work for longer hours. Their basic needs were not given priority for instance; they were not provided with proper sanitary conditions.
The biggest problem India is facing which hampers its economic growth is that we are unable to do even small things on time. Last Year in October, there was a huge malevolent argument between Common Wealth Games Federation officials and Indian Authorities on the of India's standing for preparation for these games.
