Rupee Gains 28 Paise At 45.23 Against Dollar
Indian currency gained for the second successive day on Friday by 28 paise to close at 45.23 versus the US currency on selling of greenbacks by banking institutions and exporters and increase in capital inflows by foreign funds in stock markets.
Rupee resumed higher by 3 paise at 45.47 per dollar and later its movement remained range bound between 45.22 and 45.56 in intra day trade.
Indian unit appreciated during early trade on augmented capital inflows by foreign funds into the bourses.
Traders stated that the domestic unit strengthened against the US dollar largely in cooperation with other strong currencies and dollar selling by banking institutions and exporters.
In addition, fresh capital inflows by foreign funds into equities also backed up the rupee.
Six month forward dollar premium was recorded solider at 3.48/50% (3.14/16) and one-year annualised dollar premium also closed up at 3.22/24% (2.96/98).
Rupee ended against other international currencies such as Euro at 60.50/52 (60.75/77) per unit, Pound Sterling at 67.21/22 (67.90/92) per unit and Yen at 48.75/77 (49.38/40) per 100 units, dealers added. (With Input from Agencies)
