Beckham’s career to end: UK Press

David-BeckhamNews Paper tabloids in the UK have said that the country's star football player David Beckham is not likely to take part in the Football World Cup in South Africa this year because of Achilles tendon tear that may also cause the end of the his career altogether.

The newspaper reports however are down playing his importance in the team. They seem confident that squared would perform well even without their star attraction on the field.

Beckham suffered the injury during the match between AC Milan and Chievo in San Siro. The player was limping and then he was taken on a stretcher. He was operated Turku, Finland on Monday.

The doctors after the operation said the player will not be able to take part in the World Cup tournament. Many believe that the injury would end his career but some are still expecting that he will play in the future.

The Daily Mail showed more optimism than its peers and said "His World Cup dream is finished but Beckham is not."

England manager Fabio Capello has requested the injured caption to join the team anyway. This is believed to lift the team morale during the tournament.

The Daily mail further said that his field impact is not as important as his influence on the team.

Meanwhile, Goalkeeper Peter Shilton said that the empty spot could give an opportunity to a younger player.
