Hockey World Cup winning captain denied entry into stadium

Hockey World Cup winning captain denied entry into stadiumHockey in India has never got its due importance or for that matter any other sport because of the dominance of cricket. Another such incident which proves this could be seen at the Major Dhyan Chand National stadium in New Delhi on Tuesday.

The incident could rather be called as a big insult to the sport as well as the man who was the victim.

The man was non other that Ajit Pal Singh, who led India to the epic world cup win against Pakistan in the final against Pakistan. He was left stranded outside the Major Dhyan Chand stadium when he was not allowed entry into the stadium. He spent a lot of time trying to make the officials understand who he was but all in vain, and took him a series of calls and messages to finally enter the ground after a lot of time.

Ajit Pal, after the whole episode, spoke to the media and threatened to boycott the venue as he was really upset the way these officials treated him in the name of security and said that better arrangements should have been made for him.

Will any other sport in India ever be taken seriously where Dhoni's sneeze becomes headlines?
