Jet Airways records higher passenger traffic
Jet Airways has said on Tuesday that its international passenger traffic grew four months in row in January by 30% over the last year.
In the domestic sector the airline recorded an increase of 26% in passenger traffic over the corresponding period last year. The airline said that it had recorded a 12.8 per cent rise in passenger traffic last month.
The increase was from higher business and leisure travels during the winter months. The airline was able to boost revenues and also increase its load factor in the period. The load factor for its international operations stood at
84.9 percent while that for domestic operations was at 75 per cent.
A total number of 7.5 lakh passengers traveled by Jet in the month from 5.96 lakh passengers in the corresponding period last year.
The CEO of the Airline Nikos Kardassia said "Several new strategic, marketing and network initiatives implemented during the economic downturn are also now beginning to pay dividend, enabling the airline to tap into demand revival."
The shares of the company were trading up 2.5% at Rs 485.70 at 11:54 am on the BSE.
