South Zone sails into Duleep Trophy final

Duleep-TrophySouth Zone has made into the final of the Duleep Trophy as they successfully chased the target of 291 with five wickets to spare against Central Zone on the fourth day of the semifinal match on Friday.

South Zone looked in trouble in the morning as they lost their overnight batsmen Arun Karthik and Abhinav Mukund with adding just 15 runs in the score. Praveen Kumar and RP Singh took one wicket each to raise hopes of Central Zone.

But after that Subaramanium Badrinath and Manish Pandey thrashed Central Zone bowlers all over the park to lead their team to victory. Badrinath, Pandey and Ravichandaran Ashwin smashed brilliant half-centuries for South Zone.

Leg-spinner Piyush Chawla was expected to be the key bowler for Central Zone but he proved very expensive as he gave away 75 runs in his 13.2 overs. Pandey smashed 18 runs in his one over including three fours and a huge six.
