Mumbai wins 39th Ranji Trophy title

Ajit Agarkar took a five wickets haul as Mumbai won the crown of the Ranji Trophy for 39th time after defeating Karnataka by 6 runs on the fourth day of the final match at Gangothri Glades Cricket Ground in Mysore on Thursday.

Karnataka resumed their inning from overnight score of 135 runs for three wickets. Manish Pandey scored 144 runs in just 151 balls but could not lead his team to victory. Karnataka needed 338 runs to win the match but they bundled out with 331 runs on the board.

Karnataka was once looking to chase highest ever total in the history of Ranji trophy with 255 runs on the board with loss of just three wickets. But after the fall of wicket of Pandey their batting order collapsed.

Agarkar took five wickets including the last wicket in his 22.4 overs for just 85 runs. D Kulkarni took three wickets, while I Abdulla chipped in with two important wickets.
