Government to review draft bill on sexual harassment at workplace
New Delhi, Jan 8 : The government has constituted an inter-ministerial group to review the provisions of the draft bill to protect the rights of women against sexual harassment at the workplace, an official statement said Friday.
The group has been asked to examine and fine-tune the draft bill by Jan 20, 2010, so that it can be finalized "as early as possible" for further action.
The group will be chaired by the additional secretary of the women and child development ministry and will have representatives from the ministry of social justice and empowerment, health and family welfare, railways, information and broadcasting, home affairs, labour and employment and the National Commission for Women (NCW).
The ministry of women and child development, in consultation with other stake holders prepared the draft bill which seeks to cover students, research scholars and those working in the unorganized sector to check sexual harassment in the work place.(IANS)
