Irfan Pathan finds captaincy a helping experience
The Indian left arm medium pacer, Irfan Pathan after leading the Baroda team as captain, seemed delighted while talking to reporters on the occasion of a brand promotion event. He said that it was new experience for him, and the responsibility which is attached with the position of the captain has introduced him with a new facet of cricket.
The year 2009 has not been a good time for the cricketer as far as his international cricket career is concerned. Irfan Pathan was dropped out from the Indian cricket team after T20 world cup in England and after that an injury kept him away from the cricket for a period of
2-3 months. His last test match was against South Africa in April 2008 and the last one day international was against Sri Lanka this year.
The medium pacer further informed that he was not worried about the comments that he has received on his lost form which made him a star cricketer on the India's tour to Australian. Although, he didn't mind not being the opener bowler, but he pointed that the new rules for the ODIs have put a lot of pressure on the bowlers.
In the latest session of the domestic cricket, Irfan Pathan has performed decently in bowling and batting. He scored 397 runs with an average of 49.62 and picked up 22 wickets in just 5 matches. However Pathan has not expressed any concerns about his not being selected in the team for the Bangladesh tour.
Commenting on the busy schedule of the Indian cricket team, Pathan said, "With the amount of money that has come in to cricket, there will be only an increase in professional cricket. It is up to the individual. If he feels he will get injured, he should tell the team management."
