Soccer star Davenport charged with punching pregnant sister

Calum DavenportLondon, Oct. 29 : Soccer star Calum Davenport was yesterday charged with assault, battery and bodily harm (ABH) over claims he punched his pregnant sister.

The 26-year-old West Ham defender allegedly let fly at Cara, 28, hours before he was stabbed in both legs. His sister is set to testify against him in court, reports The Sun.

Cara''s lover Worrell Whitehurst, 25, was charged in August with knifing Davenport, who may never play again because of his injuries.

The alleged stabbing is said to have followed a family row over Cara''s unborn baby, fathered by mixed race Whitehurst.

Davenport fiercely denied thumping Cara yesterday.

The player, who is on bail, said: "I am deeply shocked and disappointed at the decision that has been made to charge me. I deny any wrongdoing and will plead not guilty.” (ANI)
