NDTV plans 26% stake buyback from NBC

NDTV plans 26% stake buyback from NBCNew Delhi Television Ltd (NDTV), leading Indian Media firm, has decided to buy back NBC Universal's entire 26% stake in its arm NDTV Networks Plc.

In a filing to Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), representatives of NDTV stated that the main aim behind the buy back is to further strengthen the position of the Group.

The sources informed that NDTV Networks Plc is the holding conglomerate of the non-news business of the broadcaster.    

The company has not revealed the financial details of the transaction.    

In May last fiscal, NBC Universal had inked into a strategic partnership agreement with NDTV for an indirect 26% stake in NDTV Networks Plc.   

NDTV Group commenced as a news-oriented company in year 1998 and today stands as a media firm with diversified interests. Presently, the company is having two 24-hour news channels namely NDTV 24x7 in English and NDTV India in Hindi in addition to 24-hour business news channel NDTV Profit.
