Mumbai Indians appoint Robin Singh as new coach

Robin SinghIn a significant move, Mumbai Indians (MI), the IPL team, have appointed former Indian all-rounder Robin Singh as their coach.

Robin Singh, 46, represented India in 136 ODIs. He has scored 2336 runs at 25.75 and picked up 69 wickets at 43.26 in these matches.

He is also the current fielding coach of the Indian cricket team.

Notably, Robin has also coached Deccan Chargers in the inaugural edition of the IPL.

Former India medium-pacer Paras Mhambrey has been named as Robin's deputy.

However, former South African fielding legend Jonty Rhodes will continue as a fielding coach.

MI has organised a short five-day camp starting in Mumbai on Wednesday with 70 players, which will include skipper Sachin Tendulkar.

"We are excited about the camp for Mumbai Indians. Many young players associated with Mumbai Indians are expected to participate in the camp. The camp presents a good opportunity for the players and support staff to interact with each other," said Nita Ambani of Mumbai Indians.
