Sarkozy wants Unesco to honour French cuisine
London, Feb 24: French food has captured our hearts, or rather our tummies for quite a long time now, and now the cuisine is being trumpeted as the world’s best by the country’s President Nicolas Sarkozy.
Sarkozy is calling for the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) to honour his nation’s food.
Sarkozy said France would be the first country to apply in 2009 for its cuisine to be included in a listing of world heritage at the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, taking its place beside the Pyramids, Stonehenge and the Acropolis.
"We have the best gastronomy in the world," the Scotsman quoted him, as saying.
The 53-year-old was recently in news for marrying former model Carla Bruni on 2 February 2008 at the Elysee Palace in Paris.
The couple’s romance was outed when they were photographed visiting Disneyland Paris Resort with Bruni’s son.
The romance was confirmed when Bruni vacationed with Sarkozy in Luxor, Egypt and Petra, Jordan during the Christmas holidays. (ANI)
