Tokyo stocks rise on weakening yen and Wall Street gains
Tokyo - Japanese stocks rose in Tuesday morning trading due to a weakening of the yen and positive results on Wall Street.
The Nikkei 225 Stock Average gained 95.16 points, or 0.95 per cent, to stand at 10,104.68.
The broader-based Topix index also rose 2.40 points, or 0.26 per cent, to 905.24.
On currency markets at 9 am (0000 GMT), the dollar traded at 89.91-93 yen, up from 89.56-58 yen in late trading Monday.
The euro traded at 1.4621-23 dollars, up from 1.4605-08 dollars, and at 131.49-50 yen, up from 130.81-85 yen. (dpa)
