BSNL Broadband at Rs 99 for Villages in Himachal PradeshIn an effort to expand broadband penetration in the rural areas in Himachal Pradesh, India-based telecom service provider BSNL has revealed that it has decided to provide the cheapest Broadband connectivity to rural as well as remote areas of the hill state.

The sources informed that BSNL will supply Broadband internet service at just Rs 99 every month on subsidized wireline connection.

The sources further informed that Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF) will support subsidized wireline connection in rural areas.

According to an official release, BSNL will offer its broadband connection for around 28,000 country side wireline exchanges which were come under USOF.

At each exchange a maximum of 32 connections comprising 25 individuals, 6 Government Institutional and one kiosk is to be subsidized.

BSNL functionaries stated in a communiqué that the company will offer two special USOF Broadband tariff proposals with lowest montly rent of Rs 99 as well as Rs150 throughout the validity tenure of the agreement, which is eight years.

Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has decided to offer subsidy upto Rs 850/- for both individual as well as Government Institutional connections for the initiatory 31 connections from the USOF. The fund would also supply computer subsidy upto Rs 4500/- and would be available for the 31 connections.
