German consumer confidence rises on economic optimism
Berlin - A brightening economic outlook combined with low inflation resulted in another rise in German consumer confidence, a survey released Friday showed.
The Nuremberg-based GfK marketing group said its forward-looking consumer confidence index rose to 4.3 points for October after climbing to a revised 3.8 points for September.
Based on about 2,000 German households, the survey comes in the wake of data showing Europe's biggest economy climbing out of recession in the second quarter.
On Thursday, another survey showed German business confidence rose to its highest level in nearly a year in September. (dpa)
