Belgrade  - Belgrade doctors said late Thursday they were fighting for the life of a French football fan injured in a brawl before a UEFA League match, local media said.

The man, 28, was severely beaten in the brawl which broke out in downtown Belgrade hours before the Partizan Belgrade-Toulouse match. The man sustained head injuries, and was placed on a life-support system as his condition deteriorated.

Another Frenchman and one Serb were treated for slight injuries, a doctor with the Belgrade emergency clinic told media late Thursday.

Reports say around 15 French fans came under attack from around twice as many Partizan supporters in the late afternoon. Toulouse won the match 3:2. (dpa)
