ICC to conduct four-inning ODI trails

Sachin Tendulkar Master Blaster Suggests New ODI Format

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has agreed to conduct some trail ODI matches which will include two innings of 25 overs each for both teams. The cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar had recently suggested this formula to revive ODI cricket.

ICC cricket manager Dave Richardson said that the ICC is thinking to conduct some trial games with this format to check viability of this formula and it would help to minimize effect of toss in unfavorable ground conditions.

He added that South Africa may introduce this format in their domestic cricket and they will also discuss on this issue in the ICC's cricket committee annual meeting at Lord's in May next year.

After the introduction of T20 format in cricket, ODI and test format have lost its popularity. This proposal could help to reduce threat of T20 cricket on one-day cricket and it may become even more popular than T20 format.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has already scraped the 50-50 tournament Friends Provident trophy in order to expand Twenty20 competition which also includes 40-over format.
