New Delhi, Sep 10 : At least five students died and over 30 were injured on Thursday at a government school located in East Delhi due to a stampede, following rumours of short circuit caused by heavy rain.

The incident took place in a Government Senior Secondary School located in the Khajoori Khas locality.

According to sources, the stamped took place after students were asked to vacate the classroom following rumours of short circuit in the water-logged in the compound.

Over 30 students, who have sustained injuries in the stampede, are being treated in a nearby GTB government hospital.

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit and all top officials of the Delhi government rushed to the spot. (ANI)
