Roddick can't believe seeds' perfect run-up
New York - Even Andy Roddick admits amazement that none of the top men's seeds at the US Open had dropped a set as the opening week heads into the holiday weekend.
The number five did his part in the second round, slamming Frenchman Marc Gicquel 6-1, 6-4, 6-4 and facing just one break point in the later stages.
Roddick now owns the most wins ever on the massive Arthur Ashe showcase arena, 17.
As for the performance so far of himself and his delete colleagues, the American is stunned: "That's shocking, that's shocking.
"Not even a set? Not a quick little break at 11 am out on Grandstand? That's pretty surprising."
The 2003 tournament winner and three-time Wimbledon finalist is fully confident of keeping up the run of form. "I feel like I'm hitting it well.
"I have pretty good ball control right now. I think I'm picking the right shots to go for. I'm making a lot of my returns and I'm in every one of their (opponent's) service games." dpa
