Miandad wants Pak to have SA like pitch ahead of CT

javed-miandadWith a key intention to prepare Pakistani batsmen for South African conditions and pitches at the upcoming Champions Trophy, former captain and coach Javed Miandad has asked for a new grassy track at the Gaddafi Stadium.

Miandad has been appointed recently by the PCB as the batting consultant.

He is working on methods to train the batsmen ahead of the 8-nation series, all set to begin on September 22.

As a result, the energetic batting legend has ordered the preparation of grassy three-foot wide pitches at the stadium here.

Speaking with the media persons, Miandad said: “The idea is to get the batsmen to play on surfaces similar to those in South Africa. Cricket is all in the mind and if a player is mentally focused, he can succeed anywhere.”

''The playing conditions and pitches at the Wanderers and Centurion grounds are conducive to pace bowling and our batsmen need to be prepared to cope with the conditions there,'' added the former great batting legend.

The former Pakistani player has also served as the Director of Cricket Affairs in the board.

He has asked the team players to be confident to stand out in this mind game.

Notably, Miandad, 52, coached the national side thrice in the past.

Therefore, he believes that he know about players' potential individually.
