H1N1 Virus: K’taka toll rises to 23

KarnatakaThree more persons succumbed to H1N1, raising the total number of swine flu fatalities in Karnataka to 23.

Of these 3, two died in Bangalore, while one died in Bijapur.

Health officials informed the media persons that two women from Bangalore – Azar Kausar (35) admitted to Sagar Hospital died on Friday and 48 year old Sowbhagya in Suguna Hospital on August 26.

Three-year-old Gowdappa Biradar succumbed to virus at Aswini Nursing home in Bijapur on the same day. Gowdappa has became the youngest swine flu victim in Karnataka

As per the latest figures, 21 more patients tested positive for H1N1 on Friday. Sixteen of them were from Bangalore, two from Udupi, one each from Belgaum, Bijapur and Kolar.

It should be noted here that the South-Indian state has so far recorded 409 swine flu positive cases. Karnataka is the second worst swine flu-hit state after Maharashtra in the country.
