7 fresh H1N1 flu cases in Gujarat
Seven fresh swine flu cases were reported from Gujarat, raising the total number of affected persons in the state and Union Territory of Daman to 105.
Confirming the development, Gujarat Health Minister Jaynarayan Vyas said: "Today, six people in Ahmedabad and one in Surat tested positive for H1N1 virus."
Mr. Vyas added that over 643 persons had been tested for the swine flu. Of these, 537 samples tested negative, while report is awaited in one case.
Gujarat has so far reported seven swine flu deaths.
On Monday, a 50-year old resident of Rajkot city named Rajesh Undhad succumbed to the disease at the city's NM Virani Wockhardt Hospital.
It is learnt that the state health authorities also conducted a medical check-up of all his family members.
The authorities are also trying their best to map out all persons who were in direct contact with the victim.
