The Indian government wants to leave no stone upturn in tackling spread of swine flu in India. The government plans to integrate efforts of central, state, local governmental establishments, medical colleges and institutes and private set-ups to tackle this problem.

Ten people have lost their life due to swine flu. More than 1,000 people have been affected by it. Maharashtra is the worst-affected with seven deaths, followed by Gujarat (two deaths) and Chennai (one).

Health minister Ghulam Nabi Azad discussed with 22 CMs on Tuesday various measure taken by centre government to prevent swine flu. He asked them to take urgent measures and prepare contingency plans to tackle spread of the deadly virus in the country.

Centre has asked the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the National Disaster Management Authority and the State governments to train doctors and paramedical staff in dealing with swine flu.

Mr. Azad asked the Chief Ministers to chair the first meeting with Central government teams to ensure on-the-spot decisions and swift implementation.
