Shahid Afridi to lead Pakistan T20 squadPakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has named all-rounder Shahid Afridi, popularly known as boom-boom Afridi, as skipper of the Pakistan team for the T20 match against Sri Lanka. The T20 match will be played on August 12 in Colombo.
 
Afridi will replace Younis Khan as captain of the T20 team. Younis quitted from the T20 cricket after leading Pakistan to a historic title win in the ICC T20 World Cup in last month. Although, he is still playing in the ODI and test matches as skipper of Pakistan team in both formats.

Afridi has appeared in 26 Tests, 273 ODI matches and 23 Twenty20 matches for Pakistan. He was declared man of the match in semifinal and final match of the T20 World Cup in last month. He was also named player of the tournament in the first edition of the World Twenty20 Cup in South Africa in 2007.

A PCB spokesman said that Afridi has been named captain of the Pakistan only for the T20 match against Sri Lanka. However, Afridi admitted that PCB chairman Salman Butt has assured him that he would remain skipper of Pakistan's Twenty20 team till T20 World Cup in next year.
