Etisalat-RCOM sign deal for telecom infrastructure

Reliance Communications Etisalat DB and Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group's flagship firm Reliance Communications (RCom) has signed a deal for telecom infrastructure solutions. The deal will enable RCom to launch cost effective and more reliable telecom services throughout India.

Etisalat DB, a joint venture between Etisalat and Dynamix Balwas Group, will provide its telecom infrastructure to Reliance Infratel and Reliance communications under a
10-year tower sharing deal worth Rs 10,000 crore.

Reliance ADA Chief Anil Ambani, said, "This win-win agreement demonstrates Reliance Communications capabilities to enable the operators to go-to-market with a bouquet of telecom infrastructure services. This will ensure a faster rollout, optimum costs and a time to market advantage."

Etisalat DB has recently acquired 45% stake in Swan Telecom. The company will expedite its work to launch telecom services in the country. Earlier, Norway's Telenor and India based Tata-Quippo combined tower co. signed a similar tower sharing deal.

A press release maintains, "The agreement presents large cost optimisation benefit with an asset light model improvement in capital productivity and enhances RCom group revenue by Rs 10,000 crore. The agreement is the first and the largest telecom infrastructure sharing in India."
