AIFF under scanner as former players criticize
Former players and coaches have slammed the All India Football Federation (AIFF) as Indian women team has been excluded from the FIFA rankings due to non-participation of Indian women team in International matches for last 18 months.
Yesterday, FIFA released new world rankings and Indian women team has not been included in the list of 25 Asian teams, which has been listed in FIFA world rankings.
The former India men's team player Harjinder Singh said that it has been unfair to the Indian women team who has not been given any exposure before any tournaments and this will discourage young girls to join the football game.
While AIFF general secretary Alberto Colaco denied allegation on them saying that they did not qualified for the women's Asian Cup main round due to which there were no tournaments for the girls last year.
Former captain Shukla Dutta alleged AIFF that a talent spotting program was organized during the Senior National Women's Football Championship in Tamil Nadu in February-March this year but the team was neither picked nor sent for the Asian Cup qualifiers which held in April.
