Short deliveries may not work this time: Holding

Short deliveries may not work this time: HoldingThe former West Indies fast bowler Michael Holding believes that short pitched deliveries may not intimidate Indians batsmen this time due to absence of fast bowler Fiedel Edwards in the West Indies squad.

Holding said that Edwards has been the quickest bowler in the West Indies team and in the absence of Edwards it will be tough to bowl that kind of short-pitched deliveries and also Jerome Taylor has not been fit in the recent times.

Edwards has been ruled out from the West Indies squad for first two ODI matches against India due to lower back injury which he received during the tournament in England.

Edwards had intimidated Indian batsmen with his quick short pitched deliveries in the super eight round match of the ICC T20 World Cup and West Indies won that match.

Holding also said that Lendl Simmons and Darren Sammy should not have been dropped for the first two ODI matches against India as there are already shortage of bowlers in West Indies squad and he has been surprised by the decision of West Indies selectors to exclude Lendl Simmons and Darren Sammy as they have performed well in the last few matches.
