Chandigarh clinches Katoch Shield Chandigarh cricket team has won the Katoch Shield after defeating Jalandhar by nine wickets in the final match of the The Katoch Shield Punjab Inter-District Cricket Tournament in Chandigarh today.

Chandigarh team today resumed their batting from overnight score of 42 for no loss of wicket. Sarul Kanwar and Simrat Bawa batted brilliantly as they scored a partnership of 234 runs for the first wicket in just 40.3 overs.

Simrat Bawa scored unbeaten 119 runs in just 65 balls while Sarul got out after scoring 183 runs.

Sarul was the leading run scorer in the tournament who scored 746 runs at an average of 106.57 while among the bowler Rahul Sharma took 25 wickets in the tournament at an average of 26.20.

MP Pandove, Treasurer, BCCI and Secretary, PCA gave trophy to the Chandigarh team with a cash award of Rs 1 lakh while a cash award of Rs 50, 000 was given to the runner-up team of Jalandhar.
