India football captain Bhaichung is likely to join East Bengal football club as he met with Bhutia East Bengal football secretary Babu Bhattacharya on Wednesday.

Bhutia has a contract with Mohun Bagan but for now he has been suspended for six months by Mohun Bagan due to indiscipline charges. Bhutia has not yet entered into any official agreement with the East Bengal club.

However, Bhattacharya informed that they did not discuss the issue of joining EB by Bhutia as even if he signs any contract to play for East Bengal that will be completely invalid as currently he holds contract with Mohun Bagan. He cannot join EB until he gets the no-objection certificate from his present club.

He further added that they will meet once more before Bhutia leaves for the national team's preparatory camp on June 24 as he has to know what Bhutia wants from East Bengal in terms of salary and other facilities.
