Aaron Redmond guides New Zealand to victory

New ZealandIrish team was unable to repeat its magic as New Zealand defeated Ireland by a huge margin of 83 runs in first match of the super eight round of the ICC T20 World Cup yesterday at Trent Bridge.

Ireland skipper WTS Porterfield won the toss and elected to field first against New Zealand.

New Zealand scored 198/5 in 20 overs against Ireland. The man of the match Aaron Redmond was top scorer for New Zealand, who scored 63 runs in just 30 balls.

All the Irish bowlers were expensive against New Zealand. WK McCallan and AR Cusack took two wickets each for Ireland.

Chasing huge target of 199 runs, Irish batsmen struggled against New Zealand bowling attack and all the Irish team returned to pavilion for just 115 runs in 16.4 overs.

NL McCullum took three wickets for New Zealand against Ireland.
