Australia's Rudd chastises coarse-tongued TV chef
Sydney - British celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay received a serve from Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd Tuesday after the potty-mouthed cook flung gratuitous insults at a female television interviewer.
Ramsay, who is in Melbourne for a food and wine exhibition, called anchorwoman Tracy Grimshaw a lesbian and likened her to a pig - remarks that Rudd said characterized him as a "new form of low life."
"I just drew breath when I saw the sort of stuff which was said about her," the prime minister said. "I just think that's off and offensive."
Ramsay also received a scalding from Deputy Prime Minister Julia Gillard.
"I think perhaps what he should do is confine himself to the kitchen and make nice things for people to eat rather than make public comments about others," she said. (dpa)
