Jet Airways terminates nearly 100 employees
In an attempt to cut the costs, the cash strapped airline Jet Airways has shut offices in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok. Furthermore, the company might also delay salaries to its employees.
Apart from shutting down its offices at Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok, the airline has also issued a termination notice to the employees serving at these centres with effect from May 31.
Approximately 100 employees have been terminated. These also include expats and people who were recently inducted and were under probation. It should be noted though that all of these employees would be compensated with Rs 1.5 lakh each, which includes Rs 55,000 that the employees had to pay to the company for training when they joined the company.
"The employees get salaries in the first week of every month," said a Jet Airways spokesperson in context with salary delay, and also added that the airline will help employees who have been terminated find a new job.
Jet Airways has carried out a lot of cost-cutting measures in the past six months which includes rationalization of 12% of its routes, withdrawal from two international routes to various cities in the Middle-East, putting nine aircrafts on wet lease (in which the aircraft comes complete with crew, maintenance etc).
