Brothers to hang for murdering woman

Brothers to hang for murdering womanSingapore  - Two brothers were sentenced to death by hanging Tuesday for murdering a woman in 2005, capping a long-running trial that was spanning three years, the Straits Times reported.

The Court found Ismil Kadar, 40, and Muhamad Kadar, 33, guilty of killing Tham Weng Kuen at her apartment on May 6, 2005, when trying to rob her. Tham died from more than 110 stab wounds.

Justice Woo Bih Li said he could not conclude as to who had dealt the fatal blows to the woman but both men were liable under the law as they were found to be at the crime scene at that time.

Muhammad did a dramatic turnaround and exonerated his older brother during the trial, saying he was the only who committed the crime. He said he had lied to the police in blaming his brother. (dpa)
