Anjar girl may not face police action
However, cops probe if her feigning to be dead will be an offence
The 19-year-old girl of Modvadar village of Anjar taluka of Kutch, who eloped with her lover and secretly married him in the Panchmahals, may not face any legal problem as she is a major.
"Sajanu Hamir Dangar is no longer a minor and appears to have conducted no offence as far as her marriage is concerned,'' said PL Chaudhary, DySP of Anjar.
However, as for her apparent act of feigning to be dead, the police are investigating the matter and will decide if this constitutes any offence.
Sajanu, first reported missing and then dead, was found alive in the Panchmahals three days back. The girl herself informed her parents in Kutch on Friday last of her marriage with her lover, a teacher at Bhimasar village in Anjar taluka.
According to Modvadar sarpanch Radheshyam Ayachi, also a lawyer, Sajanu had gone to Bhuj to see her results of PTC exam on February 18. When she did not return, a missing complaint was filed at Anjar.
"All in the village were worried, when a letter by her was found from home stating that she was leaving home never to return owing to her failure in the examination. When her HSC mark-sheet and her foot-wear were found from near a burnt pyre on the outskirts of the village, it was concluded that she had committed suicide. The police also started investigation and even summoned forensic team to collect samples of the ashes and the blood of her parents."
