Infosys CEO says India will recover faster
The global recession would ease in the next 18 months and India, in particular, would recover faster, Kris Gopalakrishnan, chief executive and managing director of Infosys Technologies, and chairman of Industry Vision Group, said.
He was delivering the keynote address before the start of the panel discussion on 'Big vision big opportunities: Destination Mysore' organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on Wednesday.
Goplakrishnan said export markets had remained stable despite the recession. This should strengthen industrialists' faith in the markets. If the investments continued and opportunities followed, growth would be assured, he said.
He suggested that the government, industrialists and citizens should come together to evolve an all-inclusive and futuristic development plan, bearing in mind the parameters of growth and progress. The city has about 5,000 software professionals and an equal number would be added soon, he said.
In the discussion that followed, the panel focused on connecting resources, infrastructure and different approaches to education.
Dr V Prakash, director of Central Food Technology Research Institution, Aroon Raman, managing director of Raman Fibre Science, Ashok Rao, president of Automotive Axles and Dr Ramesh Venkateswaran, director of SDM Institute for Management Development, spoke on the occasion.
