Imphal, Jan 22 : A rifleman in Manipur Ukhrul district gunned down a Junior Commissioned Officer and five other Assam Rifles personnel on Wednesday evening and fled.

A massive manhunt has been launched for rifleman Shiny Medeo of the 17th Assam Rifles who was posted under the Chingai police station.

Lt Col Nirupam Bhargava, a defence spokesman, in Nagaland said that after a discussion with the Junior Commissioned Officer, Medeo shot him and killed five others.

The fratricidal killing happened in the remote Awang Kasom Khullen area of the district. (ANI)
