Want to know the most irritating invention? It’s Karaoke
A latest survey which was conducted in Britain has suggested that Karaoke is by far the most irritating invention, in which inexperienced amateur singers sing along with recorded music using a microphone and public address system.
Furthermore, it was found by the poll of more than 2,500 adults that most Britons wish that the karaoke machine, which rose from Japanese curiosity to living room fixtures worldwide should never had been invented.
A very well known newspaper of Britain reported, “While a quarter of the respondents voted karaoke as the most irritating invention to have blighted Britain, other annoying creations included 24-hour sports channels, computer games consoles, mobile phones and alarm clocks.”
Giving a glimpse at the history of Karaoke, a Japanese musician called Inoue Daisuke invented it back in 1971. The name basically stands for “empty orchestra” and the gadget became quite popular in Asia before being introduced to the rest of the world in the 1980s. The gadget which Daisuke made by combining a car stereo, a coin box and an amplifier, cost him nearly 100 million pounds.
Ivor Arbiter and his daughter Joanne who back Arbiter Group, a leading supplier of musical instruments and audio equipment in the world, brought the karaoke machine to Britain.
“Seeing the karaoke machine at the top of that list made me smile,” said Kane Kramer, the Director of the British Inventors' Society.
