Berlin (dpa) - Television, whether it broadcasts a football match from 1954 or the first lunar landing, used to be more of a group experience which a club in Berlin club hopes to recreate.

Indeed, television used to be a social experience out of necessity - there was a time when not every German owned a TV. But the Gernsehclub (the Eager to Watch Club - a pun on the German word for television, Fernseher) still wants to recreate the experience, whether it's to watch football or a thriller. Members gather to watch events, series and DVD highlights together. Viewers lounge on furniture or partake in a TV buffet.

The next round of programs is set to kick off in late January. (dpa)
