NFDC Appoints Om Puri As Its New Chairman

Ace Bollywood actor Om Puri has been nominated as the chairman of the Om Purivery prestigious National Film Development Corporation Ltd (NFDC), which is also the fundamental agency established to encourage & promote "Cinemas Of India' - both on a National and International level.

The veteran actor, who will formally take charge on April 23, has been appointed almost a year after film distributor and financier Manmohan Shetty resigned from the post.

The appointment takes place at the time when the famous luminaries from the past list of NFDC, plus many co-producers of the NFDC’s upcoming movies including Lucky Red Seeds, As The River Flows, White Elephant & Via Darjeeling will come together. This will be followed by exclusive Audio-Visual promos of the approaching unreleased films.

The newly appointed Chairman Om Puri, together with Nina Gupta, the present Managing Director- NFDC, would share the future plans and growth prospects of NFDC's position in endorsing Significant and Content Cinema in India.

Puri was last seen in Priyadarshan's comedy, Dhol. The actor also had an important role in the Hollywood movie, Charlie Wilson's War, which also stars Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts. Puri plays the late Pakistan President Zia-Ul-Haq in the film.

At present, he is shooting for Rakyesh Mehra’s Dilli 6 and Anees Bazme's Singh is Kinng.
