‘Nawaz Sharif to make another comeback bid around Oct 18’
London, Sept 30 : Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who was deported back to Jeddah within hours of his landing at Islamabad Airport on September 10, will make another attempt to return home around October 18.
His brother and the president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Shahbaz Sharif, told Al Jazeera TV that Nawaz is "going to return very soon after Ramadan," despite the risk of another deportation.
"Well, there is a possibility that he could arrive around that date (October 18), or earlier, or a little later, but he will be arriving back very soon,” he said.
Responding to a query as to how President General Pervez Musharraf would react to Nawaz’s another bid to stage comeback, he said, "I cannot say how he'll deal with that situation, but left to him, he will bundle him out again, most definitely," he said.
The PML (N) chief went on to say that Musharraf is a military dictator who is opposed to democratic political activity.
Shahbaz ruled out the possibility of his brother flying back to Pakistan with another former premier Benazir Bhutto, who has announced plans to return from a self-exile in Dubai and London on October 18.
"I wish that were to be the case…,” The Gulf News quoted Shabaz as telling the channel.
Pointing out that Nawaz and Benazir had once worked together for a return to democracy in Pakistan, he said that the PPP chief later "took the other route to negotiate with this dictatorial regime," which Sharif opposes. (With inputs from ANI)
