Musharraf says his war-on-terror decision was “right”

Lahore, Oct 15 : Former Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf has reportedly said that the continuation of the previous government’s policy on the ‘war on terror’ was the right decision and should, therefore, be pursued in the future.

Justifying his war-on-terror decision, Musharraf said that he had carefully weighed all the pros and cons before going for it. “I had joined the ‘war on terror’ after careful deliberations,” the Daily Times quoted Musharraf as saying at a dinner hosted in the honour of the recently retired military officers at Army House in Rawalpindi.

Chief of Army Staff Gen Ashfaq Kayani, Admiral (Retd) Afzal Tahir, Lt Gen (Retd) Salahuddin Sati, Lt Gen (Retd) Sabir, Lt Gen (Retd) Safdar Hussain and Gen (Retd) Athar Ali Khan attended the dinner.

The former president said also that national security could not be ensured until terrorism was wiped out.

He praised the services of the recently retired military officers, and discussed the security situation in the country with them, the channel said. (ANI)
