Murugadoss Strikes a Gigantic Deal With FSS
Ghajini has proved to be a major turning point in Director A.R. Murugadoss’ life. He has now gone ahead and signed a record deal of doing two joint venture projects in Tamil with Fox Star Studios (FSS), a production and distribution house set up as a joint venture between Twentieth Century Fox and Star Group.
As per the deal, Murugadoss will direct and execute Tamil films produced by them while FSS will retain complete rights over the distribution and marketing of these films. Looking back, FSS had successfully marketed and distributed the Oscar winning Danny Boyle`s Slumdog Millionaire in India.
Also, according to the deal, Murugadoss will initially co-produce and direct two Tamil films on a gigantic budget of Rs 60 crore!
Ostensibly, this is Fox Star Studios' strategy for the year to enter into the Asian market and it has decided to do so by Doing Tamil Films first and then films in other languages.
In today’s time many American production houses are increasingly showing interest in India, and are keen on producing big-budget films with the most bankable stars available today. Warner Bros has tied up with Ocher studios for film production and are already working together for Sultan - The Warrior and Goa, directed by Venkat Prabhu.
