New Delhi, Jan 21 : External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee today asked the international community to collectively fight the menace of terrorism.

Addressing the first Delhi Dialogue on Regional Security and Cooperation here, Mukherjee said the growing political and economic linkages with ASEAN nations will send a message that the designs of terrorists will be defeated not just by India but by the International community as a whole.

"The trend towards inter-connectedness needs to grow much more," he added.

He said the recent Mumbai terror attacks had shown that both India and ASEAN would need to resolutely rebuff such evil attempts.

Calling for handling the current economic crisis in a farsighted manner, he said the regional financial arrangements would help in mitigating the growing risks from the current negative economic outlook.

"The energy demands are going to grow in the emerging market and indeed in much of Asia," he added.

Meanwhile, India has conveyed to British Foreign Secretary David Miliband its disagreement over his views on Kashmir.

After Miliband ruffled feathers in New Delhi by linking the Kashmir issue with terrorism, India said that it conveyed its disagreement to Britain through diplomatic channels and is treating the matter as a closed chapter.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function, Mukherjee said, "In our normal diplomatic channel what is proper and just, we have done it and now it is a closed chapter." (ANI)
