MPs Show concerns over Spiralling Commodity Rates

New Delhi: The member of Lok Sabha, yesterday, expressed worry over increasing costs of vital commodities with Left members impeaching the administration of weakening to verify price increases regardless of repeated assurances,

Bringing up the matter during Zero Hour, Gurudas Das Gupta (CPI) alleged prices of pulses had crossed Rs.50 per kg and that of potato Rs.15 per kg and edible oil Rs.60 a litre.

He said there had been a record price increase for over a year and regardless of Finance Minister P Chidambaram’s assertion that the administration would take all the obligatory actions to deal with inflation, things have not helped.

The Members consisting to the Left, the Samajwadi Party and the BJP backed him.

Mr. Gupta stated the poor had been hit hard.
