MphasiS’s Expansion Plan For Chennai

MphasiS, in which technology services company EDS holds 60.9 per cent stake, has made announcement about the capacity expansion plan for its Chennai facility.

As part of its growth plans, MphasiS will add 3,600 seats to its Chennai operations by the end of the existing year (2008).

The firm has also inaugurated its Enterprise Labs, an innovative information technology centre, which will offer up engineering, development and testing environments for MphasiS and EDS throughout the world.

While addressing a press meeting, Jeya Kumar, Chief Executive Officer, MphasiS, stated that the Chennai lab, an integral part of EDS’s global virtual laboratory capability, would concentrate on IT industry priorities that include server virtualisation (running multiple operating systems simultaneously on a single server) and “Green IT,” plus continuously improving the quality and speed of delivery.

“Based on what we see in the global market, we expect our infrastructure management business to be a major growth driver. Opening the Enterprise Lab is an important milestone to accelerate IT expansion and provide high-quality solutions to MphasiS and EDS clients in India and around the world,” Mr. Jeya added.

Mr. Jeya also said that the Chennai lab would be linked with the international network of regional laboratories in US, Asia Pacific and Europe, West Asia and Africa.

Presently, Mphasis has more than 27,000 people on its roll, service clients in Financial Services, Healthcare, Communications, Transportation, Consumer & Retail industries and to Governments around the world.
