Mother and Her Daughter Deliver Babies in Same Hour in Tampa

A Tampa woman and her daughter recently gave birth not only in a same month but in the same hour. When Angela Patram, 37, and daughter, Teranisha Billups, 20, found that they were pregnant they thought that their babies will be born within a few weeks of one another.

But the situation was surprising as the mother and her daughter delivered their babies only at a gap of 34 minutes in Tampa General Hospital in late February.

Dr. Atef Zakhary, who practices at Tampa General, said that he was quite shocked by the momentous occasion. He also said that he has been in this field for 29 years now, but has never seen a mum and daughter delivering babies on the same day.

As per doctors, Ms. Patram was scheduled to deliver her baby on February 19, whereas Ms. Billups was due to have her first baby two weeks later, on March 6.

However, the night before Ms. Patram was to be induced, Ms. Billups went into labor and the two women ended up in labor in rooms next to each other, said hospital officials.

Ms. Patram named her fifth child as Rayna Simone Patram. The child was born at 6:29 pm, while Ms. Billups delivered her baby via caesarean, which she named Jerry Michaud Jr.

Both the ladies said that it’s a blessing to them. Ms. Billups said that their babies are special and they will be celebrating birthdays together for the rest of their lives.

Angela Patram works as a surgical oncology nurse at the hospital, while Teranisha Billups is biology major at Florida A&M University.

Patram told People magazine, “We knew our due dates were around the same time, but we never expected that it would happen on the same day”.
