Mosley fails in bid to prevent paper from showing video clip

London - A British court on Wednesday refused to grant an
injunction preventing the News of the World newspaper from showing a
video clip of FIA president Max Mosley in the company of five
prostitutes.

In his judgment before the High Court, Mr Justice Eady said he was
unable to order an injunction because of the widespread availability of
the film on various websites.

The tabloid newspaper, which reported on March 31 that Mosley,
engaged in sex acts with prostitutes that involved Nazi role-playing,
immediately put a 90-second video clip back on its webpage.

According to the News of the World, Mosley paid five prostitutes
2,500 pounds (4,948 dollars) in cash and then engaged in an orgy that
lasted almost five hours.

The 67-year-old is alleged to be seen on a video that shows him
screaming orders in German and lashing girls wearing concentration camp
uniforms.

The News of the World argued that the photographs demonstrated
elements of Nazism but Justice Eady said that on the basis of the
evidence before him, "it certainly appears very weak" and it may be
that the Court in due course hold that there is nothing in the
allegations of Nazi role-play."

Mosley said he intends to pursue the case for damages, which he would donate to the FIA Foundation. (dpa)
